Next Parade - Easter Monday

17th April 2017  9:00 - 2:30pm

£8 adult entry to the parade

We were delighted to team up with the events staff at The London Harness Horse Parade in 2016 to organise the craft barn at their annual Easter Monday event at Ardingly Showground.

Visitors were able to view the parade from all areas of the route, as well as a seated viewing area alongside the main judging position.

In addition to enjoying the parade there were oppurtunities to browse the varied trade stands that were present. Refreshments were available.

Our crafts were situated next to the parade route in the NFU barn. This is an open-fronted structure - facing North - which provides only minimum protection from the elements.

The 2016 event was decimated by Storm Katie which tore through the area overnight on Sunday night/Monday morning.  Despite the widespread damage, most crafters made it to the showground.  Unfortunately, only 50 out of the 120 or so horse drawn vehicles made the trip and visitor numbers were drastically down.

Having said all that, the stallholders were satisfied that the 2017 parade will be well worth attending and will be given first option on places.

For 128 years the London Harness Horse Parade Society has worked to improve the treatment of horses used for driving.  Initially in the streets of the West End, the parade moved to Battersea and then, in 2006 to Ardingly.  The organisers expect 2,500 - 3,000 visitors this year - if the weather's kinder!  There is a £8 entry fee for adults and under 16s enter free.  There is free parking and stallholders will each receive two passes to the showground.
